Leamon - See all my reviews    I'd bought my KABAR with the nice, leather USMC sheath, but this being a great utilitarian knife, I wanted to use it and have it handy without ruining the leather sheath. The nylon sheath is much better to have the knife on hand, and has a very nice safety feature of holding the knife firmly even without the wrap-around snap at the top. I'd recommend this to anyone who wanted to take their KABAR camping or just to have it on hand and keep the leather in good shape. This review is from: KA-BAR 1138128 Kydex Sheath For Short Ka-Bars (Misc.) ~~~ Exactly what I expected. For those of us who want our knife to stay put, until we insist it come out. Ka-Bar OEM Kydex sheath custom fitted to the short Ka-Bar 1256, 1258 and other 5 1/4" straight blade models. I own the Ka-Bar 1256 with leather sheath. I should have bought the 1258 with this Kydex sheath. Love the knife but hate the leather, so decided to upgrade. Provides "Triple +" All Weather Security. 1) Knife snaps directly into sheath, useful for other than upright belt mounting. Retains knife while snaps are fastened. 2) Bottom cross strap tightly secures one side of knife tang at the base of the handle into the sheath tang slots. 3) Top strap holds the very top of the grip securely to the belt loop nylon. Belt loop has snap over Velcro. + Plenty of lanyard holes. Add some paracord to secure the sheath to your leg or whatever you mount it on to keep it from flapping and snagging. +... It is hard plastic and the knife locks in. It is reversible. There are many tie points so you can secure it just about anyway you want. Great item.
